The Occupational Therapy Workshop of the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology began operating on August 1, 1993. The activities of WTZ are financed by the Capital City Hall from the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons.
The Occupational Therapy Workshop carries out tasks in the field of social and vocational rehabilitation aimed at the overall development and improvement of the fitness of each participant, necessary for an independent, independent and active life in the community.
39 people who have a significant or moderate degree of disability due to mental disorders and who have been qualified for rehabilitation in the form of occupational therapy at the Workshop take part in classes at WTZ.
WTZ participants are covered by comprehensive rehabilitation based on the principle of partnership, which involves respecting the participant's rights, mainly the law regarding his or her voluntary participation in the rehabilitation process. The versatility of rehabilitation interventions assumes the cooperation of the entire WTZ team in various spheres of the participant's everyday life, while the repeatability of the impacts involves repeating previously acquired skills and grading difficulties until complete or almost full independence is achieved.
Art therapy also plays an important role in the WTZ activity program. It is treated as a way to relieve internal tensions, get rid of unpleasant mental discomfort, and therefore improve mental functioning. We use the creative and recreational nature of classes in the studios. WTZ participants, supported and mobilized by therapists, discover new creative possibilities, find a sense of belonging to a group working together, and establish contacts with their surroundings. We present works made at WTZ at exhibitions.
