CLASSES in the computer lab counteract the digital exclusion of WTZ participants and prepare participants for professional work requiring computer skills, e.g. for office work. Classes are held in groups or individually and concern knowledge and practical skills in the field of computer operation and the use of computer programs. Learning is about acquiring new skills and consolidating existing ones. Participants also develop their interests and shape their attitude towards individual and group work. Learning how to use a computer and the basics of computer programs promotes intellectual development and improvement of manual skills.

The program of classes in the computer lab is adapted to the level, needs and interests of participants.

The program includes the following thematic modules:

• Occupational health and safety when working with a computer
• Learning how to start a computer, including turning the computer system on and off
• Basic IT techniques (e.g. how to reset a frozen system or how to install a free antivirus program
• Learning how to manage files and folders (saving files on a computer and transferring them to a CD, creating folders)
• Improving the ability to use a text editor in Notepad, MS Word and Open Office (knowledge of basic keyboard shortcuts, creating a document, e.g. CV, applications, inserting a table/picture/photo, exporting files to PDF format, improving spelling, following the rules of spelling and punctuation )
• Improving skills in using other MS Office and Open Office programs
• Using the Internet, searching for useful information, e.g. timetable, cinema repertoire; creating an e-mail account, using online dictionaries
• Creating and processing computer graphics (Paint, Gimp programs)
• Graphics tablet support
• Online logic games (checkers, chess, scrabble)
• Using the Internet to develop your own interests - classes tailored to participants with less typical interests, who have difficulty concentrating or are afraid of working on a computer (multimedia, finding information on YouTube)
